SPS New England Inc. has an opening in the Safety Department for a Field Safety Manager. The position will report to the SPS Corporate Safety Manager and will spend most of their time in the field working with our employees and subcontractors. The primary goals will be to improve safety performance, educate employees on the current best practices, and build a strong relationship with all employees and subcontractors
Primary Responsibilities
- Performs site inspections
- Assist with training of new hires
- Maintains inventory of safety supplies
- Performs record keeping of site inspections, training, and other related documents
- Updates health and safety program
- Performs safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Inspects various equipment
- Investigate incidents and near-misses
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and client requirements
- Track safety metrics (TRIR, EMR, etc.)
- Coordinate with project managers and superintendents
- Manage workers’ comp cases and return-to-work programs
Position Requirements
- 5-10+ years in construction safety (heavy civil strongly preferred)
Hands-on field experience with:
- Excavation & trenching
- Heavy equipment operations
- Traffic control & work zones
- Utility work (gas, electric, water)
- Concrete, paving, or bridge work
Experience with:
- Leading toolbox talks and safety training
- Investigate incidents and near-misses
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and client requirements
- Track safety metrics (TRIR, EMR, etc.)
- Coordinate with project managers and superintendents
- Manage workers’ comp cases and return-to-work programs
- Computer proficient
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills

Schedule:
- Monday through Friday with various nights and weekends required
