The Senior Estimator will be responsible for complete bid management / preparation and will serve as an integral contributor during all phases of the estimating process. This includes bid set-up, quantity take-offs, subcontractor and vendor procurement, development of detailed cost estimates using HCSS HeavyBid software, and final bid close-out.

Project values will range from $5 million to over $2 billion, covering a wide variety of heavy civil infrastructure work including Bridge, Highway, Railroad/Trackwork, and Marine Construction. Experience in these areas of heavy civil construction is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing accurate, detailed, and timely estimates for complex heavy civil construction projects.
  • Reviewing and interpreting project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Performing quantity take-offs and cost analysis for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing and cost leveling.
  • Developing project schedules and constructability reviews as part of the estimating process.
  • Managing bid reviews, strategy meetings, and final close-out with executive management and project teams.
  • Maintaining organized estimate files, historical cost data, and benchmark information.
  • Supporting project teams post-award with estimate breakdowns and cost tracking information.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of estimating experience in heavy civil or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob, Bluebeam, Agtek, Primavera P6, Procore, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Estimating experience in Bridge, Highway, Railroad/Trackwork, and Marine Construction preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
