SPS performed demolition and replacement of this four-leaf bascule bridge and approach spans on a critical artery into Boston.

The Bridge Construction included partial pier substructure reconstruction, installation of seismic retro fit system on the existing abutments, abutment reconstruction, wing walls, structural steel, concrete decks, bridge joints, concrete barrier, bridge rail and scupper system.

Bridge work also included construction of four movable bridge spans including structural steel, mechanical drive system replacement, electrical system replacement, riveted grid deck installation, concrete and counterweight installation, grid deck fill, concrete decks, concrete barrier, bridge rail as well as bridge fenders and sub-marine cables.

Key Challenges Overcome:

All work was performed in a heavy-traffic marine environment.
