Norton’s Point Bridge Rehabilitation

Project Overview
Originally constructed around 1912, the Norton’s Point Bridge spans a right of way controlled by the MBTA. The SPS Structures Maintenance Team worked closely with the owner and their engineer during this two-phase project to address cosmetic and structural concerns on a 375-foot section that spans the MBTA Commuter Rail.

Key Challenges:
Emphasis was placed on preserving the historic features of the bridge while increasing the longevity of the structure.
