Public Art Project for Women’s Transportation Seminar

SPS New England, Inc. was thrilled to provide Silver Sponsorship and construction support to a privately funded public art project at MBTA’s South Station which showcases women’s contributions to the transportation industry. On behalf of WTS Boston Chapter, SPS served as general contractor to install hand-made glass mosaic map of Massachusetts and Boston Harbor which allows travelers to locate themselves within the larger transportation network of which MBTA’s South Station is a major hub.

Careful viewers will also notice three almost invisible mermaids working with survey transits.  NETWORK imagines a world in which mermaids escape their gender stereotypes and instead decide to take on the land.  SPS employees Malcolm Barreiros, Tony Finenco and Dan Gibney helped bring this staircase to life through their hard work and cooperative efforts.
