Women in Construction Week 2026: Introducing Sofia
Sofia has been working as a laborer at SPS for two years. When we talked with her about not only being a woman in construction, but being a woman in construction at SPS, this is what Sofia had to say:
“In the past few years, I have noticed how you have a lot of opportunities to grow [at SPS] as a woman. They invest in your knowledge, safety, and future, they treat you like family, and for me this is one of the best opportunities that I have had.
[SPS] gives you opportunities to learn and grow, constantly offering classes and courses to improve your skills in the field.
I would like to encourage other women in the industry to come and join SPS. I want the other women in the industry to have the same opportunities that I have had in the construction world thanks to SPS.”
Women in Construction Week 2026: Introducing Emily
For Women in Construction Week 2026, SPS ran a miniseries, introducing women laborers in the field. We kicked it off by featuring Emily, a second-year apprentice with the operating engineers here at SPS.
